WowWee's Dragonfly at CES 2007

Amazingly cool robot dragonfly.     Video 2 (closeup) >>

This incredible remote control robot flies by flapping its wings just like a real dragonfly, all the lift is provided by the very natural looking wings, only a tiny propeller is used in the tail as a stabiliser.

The bug flies for 10 minutes on a single battery charge, and can be recharged by attaching it to the controller. Outdoors the dragonfly has a range of over 100 feet.

Produced by WowWee (makers of the Robosapien and others) it's retail price is $49.99, very reasonable. Interestingly, the dragonfly was originally invented by a student named Sean Frawley, then later WowWee got the rights to manufacture & sell the design. Sean is still a student and now studies at the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
