Russia to build lunar base and space elevator


President of the Energia Rocket and Space Corporation, Nikolai Sevastyanov, said that Russia will build the first permanent lunar base in 2015. NASA managers claim that U.S astronauts will land on the Moon in 2018 and manned lunar bases will be established in the future.

Transporting goods from earth to the moon and back has caused problems to efforts colonize the Moon, Russia plans to solve this with an ambitious space elevator project (see picture below).
