Woman dies in contest to win a Nintendo Wii
A Californian woman who took part in a water-drinking contest to win a video game system (a Nintendo Wii) has died of water intoxication tests have shown.Contestants were given 225ml (8oz) bottles of water at 15 minute intervals, later moving up to bigger bottles. The competition, called 'Hold your wee for a Wii' was run by a local radio station KDND 107.9. A collegue reports that the late woman's head was hurting one evening after the contest. A doctor has said that excess water can cause the brain to swell, which seems consistant with headaches. The other contestants appear so far to have survived.
