Microsoft Xbox vs Sony PlayStation Game consoles have come a long way in a short time; the main competition is between the Microsoft Xbox and the Sony PlayStation. I favour both of these high above the other consoles like GameCube, or handheld consoles like the PSP or Nintendo DS, not just for graphics and sound (which can vary from game to game) but for the all round feel of the console, the games available and game play.
With the launch of the new generation of consoles, the Xbox 360, PlayStation3 and the Nintendo Wii, possibly people are forgetting about the original Xbox and PlayStation2, which has been re-released this year much smaller and slimmer.  The Xbox has a loyal following of people who have chipped it, networked it to their PC and use it as a media player for their digital videos & music, or even run Linux on it. Microsoft & Sony have both developed their new consoles to function as digital media centres, but with this comes vastly increased prices.
