Cheats in games

GTA: San Andreas Ever since there were games there have been cheats for them, cheats were originally put in games by developers for gameplay testing purposes.

Some games like the Grand Theft Auto series benefit hugely from the cheats available, providing many more hours of playing time than without. Game titles like Tony Hawk Pro Skater, has cheats selectable from the menu.

Video games are expected now to have cheats to go along with them, but there is a fairly new trend amongst Xbox games that do not have any cheats - maybe to appeal to the more serious gamers.

Obviously in online gaming cheating is a massive problem, but offline & console gamers nowadays are divided between the serious gamers who don't use cheats and those that do.

It is an understandable argument from non-cheaters that the point of the game is to play it through properly and that cheating spoils their enjoyment of the game plot. However cheaters often feel that it is just a bit of fun, and the fun is really the point of a game.

If cheats help people to get more enjoyment from a game, or to get past a tricky part, then really there's no harm done.
