All the robots share many similarities, they are supplied in bits for you to put together yourself and all have similar software & use the "Catch & Play" programming technique, in which you move the robots joints and the software reads the position of the servos and captures the motion for later playback.
Most of the robots are not shipped with much in the way of environment sensors like tilt, sonar, sound, image, etc. But all of these and more are available to add-on to your robot, the controller modules support several sensors and you can program it to respond to changes it senses. Modifying the kit robots and adding extra servos to enable the robot to have gripping hands, a rotating waist or head, you can vastly improve the robots functionality.
Some of the kits are great Robo-One fighters (KHR-1 & Robonova-1), others are more suited to demonstration events (Manoi & Plen), others are more for educational purposes than competition, but can hold their own in the autonomous events (Bioloid).
