Kyosho Manoi AT01 & PF01 humanoid robots
The Manoi AT01 & PF01 humanoid robots are new servo-driven robots made by Japanese company Kyosho. The Manoi robots are bigger, stronger and quicker than other servo-based kit bots, AT01 is so strong that it can apparently move a box containing two full 2-litre bottles, and can do the splits and stand back up by simply bringing it's legs together.
Both Manoi robots are made using Kondo's servo motors, with their own frame design to create a brilliant robot, with amazing speed & agility. The Kondo servos used in the Manoi bots have more torque than the servos used in the KHR-1, KHR-2HV & 1HV, there was no need for Kyosho to make their own servos when there were such good ones readily available.
Manoi AT01 comes with a moulded plastic body shell that can be custom painted, and new shells can be formed and attached to further customise the appearance of your robot. Some people are concerned that the body shell will limit the robot's mobility, and some simply prefer the look of the robot more without it.
Kyosho have produced a true Robo-One class robot that is ready to compete in all the events. Previous kit robots like KHR-1, KHR-2HV & 1HV, Robonova-1 & Bioloid are Robo-One J class, which is a category for smaller, lighter robots. The Manoi PF01 will be released in April 2007, it has a much more stylised moulded plastic shell and is less customisable than the AT01. Although the PF stands for Performance, it performs very similarly to the AT01, and seems more of a show robot than one for modifying & hacking. It's stylised looks will probably appeal to a wider audience than just robot building hobbyists. Link: Manoi AT01 VS PF01 - RoboSavvy.com Forums Email this story to a friend ![]() Add this link to: |
